Meet the Pharmacist:
Tylenol toxicity is one of the nation's largest issues in drug overdose. It is important that we all realize that Tylenol (acetaminophen) is in many products that we take for other conditions. You can find acetaminophen in cough/cold products, pain products, sleep products, menstrual products and even arthritis products. The recommended dose of acetaminophen daily is 3250mg. This maximum level decreases when you take medications that affect your liver and the break down of acetaminophen. Common medications that affect your liver are cholesterol, pain, antibiotics, oral contraceptives and blood pressure medications. Remember also that you should NEVER take Tylenol after a night of alcohol consumption for your liver will shut down and this could become lethal. If you want to cure your hangover, consider taking vitamin B complex and plenty of water to replenish your vitamins that you lose when drinking. Tylenol is a good medication, however, even though you can buy it at any gas station or vending machine, it is still one of the nation's most lethal medications!
